VP of Marketing — Online Marketing
We are looking for an exceptional VP of Marketing to take ownership of
all our marketing efforts. The ideal candidate will have the right
combination of drive, intelligence, creativity, experience, and the
ability to get things done. While prior experience is essential for
this job, being smart, hungry, and highly productive will count
greatly.
This is a high-level job in a startup and will involve both hands-on
individual contributions and high-level executive responsibilities.
Both ability to get things done personally and to delegate/outsource
work are essential, as is knowing when to do which.
We are looking for a generalist who will be able to scale himself and
his organization as the company grows.
Job Duties & Responsibilities

Serve as a single point of responsibility for all lead generation,
customer acquisition and retention, from all touchpoints and all the
way through sales pipeline.

Take ownership of our public website, drive product positioning,
marcom, copy creation, maintenance, site design and optimization.

Take ownership of all online and offline direct marketing, including
paid and organic search marketing (SEM, Adwords, SEO), email
marketing, advertising, etc.

Take ownership of all PR efforts, online and print media relations,
analyst relations, community development.

Define and drive implementation of your own metrics and analytics
necessary to judge performance of the marketing department, and then
use them to objectively show how your efforts led to increased
revenue. This is a highly results-driven position.

Qualifications (desirable, not all are required)

Extensive experience doing online marketing in a results-driven
environment.

Exceptional ability to productively write copy that gets results.
This job will involve a lot of writing, and managing writers, so it
should be something you do well and enjoy. Personal blog is a nice
to have.

Direct marketing mindset, belief that the job of marketing is to
make money, and that measuring results is essential to the success.

Significant practical experience with online marketing tools of the
trade, including SEM using Google AdWords, on-page and off-page SEO,
web analytics (e.g. Google Analytics, custom-build and ad-hoc
systems), competitive analysis (Hitwise, Comscore), email marketing
systems, affiliate management tools, etc.

Significant practical experience doing/managing PR efforts, both new
media (blogs, social news, mailing lists, forums) and traditional
media (professional journalists, analysts, news releases, trade
publications). Relevant rolodex is a nice to have.

Experience marketing SaaS.

Experience marketing enterprise software.

Experience with our product area of project management, Agile and development tools would be very helpful.

Staff Software Engineer — Ruby on Rails/Unix
This job is with our development group in Ukraine in Kiev and Nikolayev, but we will consider qualified candidates elsewhere.
We are looking for an exceptional software engineer to join our team building hosted web applications using Ruby on Rails. This is a new technology, so we don’t necessarily expect prior experience. We do expect an impressive software development background, strong motivation and the desire to learn. We consider specific prior knowledge and skills secondary to the ability to get things done, intelligence, motivation and experience.
The ideal candidate will be a generalist, with experience developing both large systems (e.g. operating systems, databases, applications servers, compilers, large-scale enterprise software) and application software. Experience with UNIX is a must. Experience with web applications and databases is extremely helpful. Ruby/Rails experience would be great.
This engineer will work with a product manager, designer and other engineers to develop web application using Ruby on Rails. He/she will be an active contributor in RoR and general open source community, and will become an well-known authority on this domain. He will run operations, administering production and development servers.

- Experience developing web applications and understanding of the underlying technologies (e.g. HTTP, SSL, tcp)
- Experience with web services
- Extensive experience with relational data modeling, SQL, and other database technologies
- Experience with HTML, CSS and JavaScript/AJAX
Tools:
- Extensive experience using UNIX both as advanced user and an administrator.
- Experience administering Debian Linux, web servers, PostgreSQL, Postfix, Subversion, MediaWiki.
- Experience with source control tools (e.g. Subversion, Perforce, ClearCase, CVS) and SCM best practices
- Ability and desire to automate tasks and create tools
- Mastery of an advanced programmer’s editor — Emacs, Eclipse, etc.
